The Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) has released an official notification for the recruitment of Research Associate-I (RA-I), Senior Research Fellow (SRF), Junior Research Fellow (JRF), and Field Assistant (FA) under a research project titled “Protecting Himalayan Health: Landscape-Based Disease Surveillance in Wildlife and Exploring Zoonotic Hotspots through One Health Approach.”
This is a contractual recruitment, and all positions are temporary, with the possibility of extension based on performance.

Eligibility Criteria
Research Associate-I (RA-I)
- Essential: Ph.D. in Zoology, Wildlife Science, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Parasitology, Veterinary Science, Bioinformatics, or Public Health.
- Desirable: Experience in zoonotic disease surveillance, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, NGS, bioinformatics (QIIME, R, Python), and at least 3 research papers in SCI journals.
Senior Research Fellow (SRF)
- Essential: Master’s degree in the above fields + 2 years of research experience + at least one SCI publication.
- Desirable: Proficiency in molecular biology, fieldwork, NGS, and ONT.
Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
- Essential: Master’s degree in relevant fields with 60% marks.
- Desirable: Hands-on experience in molecular techniques and fieldwork in the Himalayas.
Field Assistant (FA)
- Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences with a minimum of 60% marks.
- Desirable: Lab and fieldwork experience, MS Office skills, and documentation handling.
