Name of the Post: Executive Trainee
Number of Total Vacancies: 400
The vacancies are distributed across six engineering disciplines — Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, and Civil. Candidates will be selected based on their GATE 2023/2024/2025 scores, followed by a personal interview.
NPCIL Executive Trainee Eligibility Criteria Details
Qualifications:
Candidates must have a BE/B.Tech/B.Sc (Engineering)/5-year Integrated M.Tech degree with at least 60% aggregate marks in relevant disciplines from a recognized university or institute approved by AICTE/UGC. Only the following disciplines are acceptable: Mechanical, Production, Chemical, Electro-Chemical Engineering, Electrical, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Electronics & Telecommunication, Electronics & Controls, Electronics & Instrumentation, Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, Civil Engineering.
Candidates must also possess a valid GATE 2023, GATE 2024, or GATE 2025 score in the discipline they are applying for. Final-year students may also apply, provided they complete their degree by December 1, 2025.
Age Limit:
As of 30/04/2025, the upper age limit is 26 years for General/EWS candidates. The limit extends to 29 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates and 31 years for SC/ST candidates. Candidates from NPCIL have no upper age limit if they meet other eligibility criteria.
Age Relaxation:
Age relaxation is provided according to government norms. PwBD candidates receive 10 years’ relaxation, and cumulative relaxation for candidates eligible under multiple categories is permitted up to a maximum of 56 years. Documentation supporting relaxation claims must be presented at the time of the interview.
NPCIL Executive Trainee Salary Details
Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of ₹74,000/- during the one-year training period, along with a one-time book allowance of ₹30,000/-. After successful training, candidates will be appointed as Scientific Officer/C with a Pay Matrix Level 10, basic pay of ₹56,100/- plus 53% Dearness Allowance as applicable (as of 01.07.2024).
Allowance Details –
Additional allowances like Transport Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Site Allowance, Professional Update Allowance, and various employee benefits, including medical facilities, education assistance, and loans, will be provided as per NPCIL rules.
NPCIL Executive Trainee Application Process 2025
Candidates must apply online only through the official NPCIL website at www.npcilcareers.co.in. The online registration process began on 10/04/2025 (10:00 AM) and will close on 30/04/2025 (4:00 PM). Applicants must fill in personal, academic, and GATE details carefully and upload scanned copies of their photo and signature. After successful submission, candidates should retain a copy of the completed application form for future reference. No offline applications will be accepted.
NPCIL Executive Trainee Selection Process 2025
Candidates will be shortlisted for personal interviews based on their GATE 2023/2024/2025 scores. The shortlisting ratio is 1:12 for each discipline and category. Separate shortlists will be prepared for PwBD candidates. Final selection will be based solely on performance in the personal interview, with minimum qualifying marks of 70% for UR candidates and 60% for reserved categories. GATE scores will not carry any weight in the final merit list.
Application Fee & Payment Details
Only male candidates belonging to the General, EWS, and OBC (NCL) categories must pay a non-refundable application fee of ₹500/-. The payment must be made online through debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI.
Female candidates, SC/ST candidates, PwBD candidates, ex-servicemen, DODPKIA dependents, and NPCIL employees are exempted from paying the fee. Fees once paid are non-refundable under any circumstances.
